I am enough for you right here.

As I was driving into the office this morning, I spent some time asking God to show me who He is.

And I heard these simple words:

“I am sufficient.”

So, of course, I needed a definition.

God Himself is enough, and because He is enough, everything He provides is enough for everything He calls me to.

I sat with that for a minute.

Because I think sometimes we're waiting for God to change something before we believe we can be okay.

When this season is over.
When this prayer gets answered.
When this situation changes.
When I know what's next.
When I finally get through this.

But maybe what we need most isn't for something around us to change.

Maybe we need a greater awareness of Who is already with us.

Paul prayed for God to remove the thorn. He wanted something to change. But God's response wasn't the answer Paul was looking for.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

I wonder if what God was really saying was:

Paul, I am enough for you right here.

Not later.
Not when it changes.
Not when it makes sense.

Right here.

That's what I'm learning about trusting the Father.

God doesn't always give me what I think I need to feel secure. Sometimes He reminds me that I already have Him.

I don't need tomorrow's strength today.
I don't need tomorrow's answers today.
I don't need tomorrow's provision today.

Because the Father who is sufficient for me today will still be sufficient for me tomorrow.

Maybe that's part of what Jesus meant when He said, “Do not worry about tomorrow.”

So much of worry is being physically present in today while emotionally trying to live in tomorrow.

And the Father keeps inviting us back to right here:

I'm here.
I'm enough.
Trust Me here.

Prayer

Father, You are enough for me right here.
Your presence is enough.
Your grace is enough.
Your strength is enough.
Give me what I need to faithfully live with You today.
I trust You here. Amen.
